The Money Show
Background Information
The Money show concept was developed in 2002 as a medium of educating as well as informing Papua New Guinean about investing in shares and or making investment in one form or another. The primary aim was to remove the mystic in people’s mind that the stock Exchange was only for big companies and wealthy people.
Indeed it is not, it is an avenue for companies and individuals to invest surplus funds and a company’s desire to raise capital to fund expansion or growth. It provides an opportunity for investors and companies to build wealth and plays a crucial role in channelling surplus funds into productive areas of the economy.
Port Moresby Stock Exchange was established in 1998 however; it was fully operational in 1999 with the installation of a fully automated trading system. It enabled companies to list and so provided an opportunity for individuals as well as institutions both local and international investors to invest in publicly listed companies.
